PEANUT BUTTER COOKIES

Ingredients

If you're in the mood to bake something sweet and satisfying, look no further than these delightful peanut butter cookies! Let’s start with the essentials. Here’s what you’ll need:

  • 1 stick of butter

  • 1/2 cup peanut butter

  • 1/2 cup of white sugar

  • 1/2 cup of brown sugar

  • 1 egg

  • 1 and 1/4 cups all-purpose flour

  • 1/2 teaspoon of baking soda

  • 1/2 teaspoon of baking powder

  • 1/2 teaspoon of baking salt

Method

First things first, let’s prepare that butter! If you haven’t already, soften your stick of butter. You can do this by letting it sit out on the counter for a bit or giving it a quick zap in the microwave for a few seconds.

Once the butter is soft, place it in a large mixing bowl. Glide right in with the rest of your ingredients: peanut butter, sugar, brown sugar, egg, flour, baking soda, baking powder, and salt. Mix everything together until it forms a smooth, sticky dough that’s oh-so-tempting to taste!

Now, it’s time for a little patience. Wrap your dough in plastic wrap and let it chill in the fridge for at least an hour. If you're short on time, putting it in the freezer for about 15 minutes works too!

Next, preheat your oven to a cozy 375 degrees Fahrenheit. While it's warming up, line a cookie sheet with parchment paper or aluminum foil. This will prevent sticking and help your cookies bake evenly.

Once the dough has chilled, take it out and roll it into small 1-inch balls. Place these little nuggets of joy onto your prepared cookie sheet. For that classic peanut butter cookie look, take a fork and gently press down on the balls to create those delightful hash marks.

Now, pop the cookies into the oven and let them bake for about 8 minutes. When they're done, they'll be slightly golden on the edges. Remove them from the oven and allow them to cool on the sheet for about 10 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack.
