Easy Tomato Noodle Soup
This easy tomato noodle soup uses tomato sauce, chicken broth, pasta, and basic pantry seasonings. The noodles cook directly in the broth, so everything stays in one pot and cleanup stays reasonable.
What You’ll Need
1 tablespoon butter
1 cup tomato sauce
4 cups chicken broth
1 tablespoon olive oil
1 cup uncooked noodles or pasta
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
1/2 teaspoon oregano
1/2 teaspoon chili powder
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
Equipment
Large pot

Measuring cups and spoons
How to Make Tomato Noodle Soup
Cook the tomato sauce. Melt 1 tablespoon butter in a large pot over medium heat. Add 1 cup tomato sauce and stir. Cook for about 1 minute.
Add the broth. Pour in 4 cups chicken broth and 1 tablespoon olive oil. Increase the heat and bring the soup to a boil.
Add the noodles and seasoning. Stir in 1 cup uncooked noodles, 1 teaspoon salt, 1/2 teaspoon black pepper, 1/2 teaspoon oregano, 1/2 teaspoon chili powder, and 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder.
Cook the noodles. Reduce the heat as needed to maintain a steady boil. Cook for about 10 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the noodles are tender.
Taste and serve. Taste the soup and adjust the salt or other seasonings before serving.
Don’t Screw This Up
Stir the noodles while they cook. Pasta can stick to the bottom of the pot if it sits too long.
Watch the cooking time. Different noodle shapes may cook faster or slower than 10 minutes. Check the package and start tasting early.
Do not overcook the pasta. The noodles will continue to soften while they sit in the hot broth.
